about
Inspired by the crowd funding campaign that supported the album. Sixteen years was written for a contrinutor's niece who was turning sixteen. The brief given to Natalie was for her to imagine what she would have said to herself if she were able to go back and speak to herself at age sixteen.
lyrics
Sixteen years, sixteen years today
If I could travel through the lines of time
What words of wisdom, words of love, would I have to say to me?
If I could travel through the lines of time
What words of wisdom, words of love would I have for being sixteen?
Chorus
So many years before me, in which to learn my ways
And I strive to make my path in life and accept the things I cannot change
Respect the things I cannot change
The night will always come, the sun will always rise
No point in having anger with what’s outside
Take comfort with what’s known the wisdom you have inside
Your heart will tell you when to stop and
When to fly, when to fly
Chorus
Be faithful to yourself and honour your own needs, don’t be afraid to take a path unknown
Be faithful to yourself and honour your own dreams, cause sometimes courage walks alone
Be faithful to yourself and honour your own needs, the miracle of life will keep you dancing with the trees
Dancing with the trees
Cause if you could see what I see
If you could see it all
You’d see a heart so strong, just love and see where it takes you yeh
Ahh ohh, ahh ohh ohh
If I could travel through the lines of time
If I could travel through the lines of time
Would I even listen to a word I had to say?
To a word I had to say?
Cause the wisdom, the wisdom, the wisdom comes from the inside
Yes the wisdom, the wisdom, the wisdom comes from the inside
